Welcome! I'm Julie.
I'm a 400-hour RYT certified yoga instructor passionate about helping you get what you want through yoga. I help my students build stability and practice confidently through a yoga practice that supports strength, bones and balance. I sought out yoga for the mind-body connection it offers. As I got deeper into my practice and experienced different teachers, I learned more and developed my own style. When I completed my first 200-hour RYT program in 2015, I understood that yoga is so much more. My yoga journey is driven by the fact that bodies and lives change. As I've changed, my practice has changed, too. I find that yoga helps and supports me in every part of my life, from feeling better and stronger in my body to showing up in all my relationships. Then, in 2022, I was diagnosed with osteopenia, which is when bones are weaker than normal but not quite at osteoporosis levels. Medical professionals could only tell me what not to do, instead of informing me what to do. That's why I started studying yoga for osteopenia and osteoporosis. I completed my 20 hour Building Better Bones certification with MelioGuide. I sought out teachers skilled in yoga for bone health. I learned that with modifications and slight changes, my students and I can practice safely. My personal practice is yoga for strength and balance. |
What Are My Classes Like?
I guide thoughtful Hatha Flow classes that come from various lineages with modifications that support safe movement and bone health. My classes are built to include everyone regardless of age or level and are purposefully slower paced so we can truly experience every movement. I focus on teaching yoga that is appropriate for each person, tailored to their circumstances and body. I also offer opportunities for challenges as each student is ready. My students find value in how I offer modifications and alignment details, helping them find poses and postures that work for them. We practice without suffering. My goal is to provide space for you to step out of your busy schedule and practice what is appropriate and helpful for where you are. And my practice is not just physical - I teach stress reduction and mindful breathing. My intention is for you to leave class feeling balanced and refreshed - ready to carry the benefits of your yoga practice off the mat and into the rest of your day. |
Why Should You Take A Class?
Our bodies constantly change, yet our movement patterns are deeply engrained, even life-long. Moving differently requires a huge amount of mindfulness. I'm here to help you listen to your body and reduce what's not working so you can find more of what supports and helps you with your yoga and movement goals. I invite you to join me for a community-oriented group class or private lesson personalized for your needs and wants. Do what you can with what you have, right now. Sign up for a session today. |
